The Girl & The Universe Next Door
Chapter 2: Pick a A Door any doorHerculette gave them both a self powered skateboard and asked them to follow him. As they stepped on board a robotic voice declared “Destination Spin City” and they were off at a speed that Isabel thought was way above the speed limits of England. “I thought we were in France not Germany” Isabel mused as this felt more like the Autobahn than a winding country lane. Fortunately things slowed down instead of speeding up again and they caught sight of a sign which read
“You are now entering Spinderella City: Enter at your own risk”.
As the skateboards came to a rest the same robotic voice announced in what seemed like a huff “Get off me, get off me now. Oh Pleeeease”.
Isabel hopped off as did Schoedinger and followed Herculette into a large building. Herculete asked them to sit down on a sofa in what seemed like a waiting room as he disappeared without explanation.
As Isabel & Schodie waited & waited then waited & waited some more, she got bored so let her eyes wander. She could see out of a window a building that had many coloured doors and decided to go out and investigate. The doors were coloured red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue. Each door had a doorbell and a sign underneath which instructed:-
“You can ring my bell, thank you very kindly”. After Isabel pressed the Red doorbell a disembodied voice sprang into action with the mellifluous
”Choosing me will bring some highs & some lows but mustn’t grumble as that’s how you growz”.
The yellow doorbell when buzzed came with an operatic voice and a disco off beat opining
“Pick me, pick me, pick me & pick me & I will take you somewhere where everyone will know your name, and it won’t ever be the same, if you are game”.
The next door being pink doorbell when pressed had a certain country feel with bango’s being plucked as the which was pink stated “I am fluffy like a bunny but my adventure isn’t stuffy”.
The next read being green read “I will take you higher than a kite but watch out as I just might bite”. Next came the purple door which simply stated “Step inside, you know that you want to”. The blue door read “Picking me will set you free” and lastly the blue door stated “Get out of your comfort zone, you just might like it”.
By this time Schoedinger had crept up to Isabel’s leg & looking up sighed “I am particularly & panickulary puzzled” . Don’t look at me Schoedie, Isabel announced “I havent the foggiest what any of this could possibly mean”.
At this point door eight opened and out stepped a lady of indeterminate age pointing her finger at them and beckoned them to follow in her footsteps.
