The Girl & The Universe Next Door
Prologue - The Plot Begins To Thicken.Dedicated to my wonderful daughter Isabel, Grace Carlotta.
“Homework, homework, homework”, Isabel silently screamed to herself. However, being such a good girl, she naturally didn’t want to wake the neighbors with her adolescent frustrations.
“Mmmm I bet if I could somehow manage to jump into a wormhole, I’d never have to do homework ever again” she reasoned to herself and thus the idea of escaping the universe first began to formulate in her mind.
“That’s what you call the physics of the impossible,” she said emphatically, having seen the title on bookshelf.
“And I must of course take my cat Schrödinger with me”.
By coincidence, the next day whilst Isabel was watching Martha & The StudMuffins on youtube sing their latest hit “Shake, rattle & scroll” an advert popped up announcing:-
“Worm Hole adventure” click here to enter.
Being a sophisticated girl she knew about the term clickbait and figured the link was not only bogus but probably totally bogus but nevertheless she had a pressing urge to press the button even though she knew curiosity might not only kill her but also her cat and that would be a catastrophe especially for Schrodinger.
Well, dear reader, this so happens to be where the story really starts to get incredibly interesting and so interesting in fact that it will probably sound like the work of fiction to most people but I can vouchsafe the following happened in real life or my name isn’t Miss Ludicrous Smarty Pants.
The plot starts to thicken being very thin up to this point.
So Isabel clicks the “WormHole adventure” option when immediately she finds herself along with Schrödinger falling into what seems to be a hole that was so dark it could almost be called black without a worm in sight.
“Catch me Issy, catch me please”, Schrödinger quietly pleaded to Isabel and after getting over the initial shock that Schrodie could not only purr but also speak the queen’s English, Isabel began to have the sneaking suspicion she might not be in Hounslow anymore.
